Galen has worked on archaeological projects since 2013 across North America, Georgia, and South Africa. He has experience conducting and overseeing cultural resource projects in the Northwest Coast, Columbia Plateau, and northern Great Basin, including survey, site testing, and excavation.

His professional experience includes preparing federal permits, preparing cost estimates and proposals, managing fieldwork and deliverable schedules, arranging contracts and agreements, developing research methodologies, and coordinating and consulting between multiple state and federal agencies.

Galen’s research interests include the precontact history of the Columbia Plateau and northern Great Basin, site formation processes, lithic analysis, and landscape archaeology. He also pursues his interests in medieval literature and archaeology, especially rune stones and inscriptions. He has authored multiple peer-reviewed articles, numerous technical reports, and regularly presents research at professional conferences. His professional experience and research interests allow him to efficiently manage projects, communicate and consult with state, local, tribal, and federal agencies while contributing to the archaeological record.
