Substrate Collaborative Anthropological Research, LLC (SCAR) is a full-service cultural resource management (CRM) firm based in La Grande, Oregon. We focus on completing cultural resource management projects thoroughly and cost-effectively for clients, while contributing meaningful archaeological data to the record and building strong relationships with Tribes and other members of the communities where we work and live.

Our mission is to assist clients through the regulatory process while advancing professional standards in CRM. We are committed to mentoring the next generation of archaeologists, fostering growth within the profession, and bridging the gap often exists between CRM firms, academic departments, and Indigenous communities. Central to our approach is a respect for diverse perspectives and for the dynamic histories of the landscapes we study.

Our staff have completed projects that encompass a few acres to several thousand acres. We have the experience, qualifications, and insight needed to support a collaborative and effective process.
