Cody has worked in cultural resource management since 2016. His experience includes conducting and leading cultural resource surveys, piloting small, unmanned aircraft systems in archaeological survey and mitigation efforts, utilizing an array of geographical positioning and geographical information systems, testing and recommending National Register eligibility, cultural resource monitoring, data recovery/excavation in compliance with Section 106, Section 110, NEPA, and state statutes and executive orders, and public archaeology service. He has worked on a variety of projects in Oregon, Washington, and Croatia.
His duties have included crafting field methodologies and research designs for projects in urban and wilderness settings, training field crews, leading field crews through complex pedestrian surveys and excavations, studying and implementing the use of advancing technologies in CRM work, and coordinating and consulting with Tribal representatives and state and federal agencies.
Cody is active in public archaeology as a volunteer instructor of archaeological methods/theory/ethics and local histories to various youth organizations in northeastern Oregon and as a researcher who has co-authored technical reports on historical archaeology presented at professional conferences in the Pacific Northwest.
